Tribute to Justice Mary Mam Yasin Sey
The NHRC extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences on the untimely passing of Justice Mary Mam Yassin Sey, a distinguished member of the Supreme Court of The Gambia. We are profoundly saddened by this immense loss and share in the grief of all who knew and admired her.
Justice Sey was not only an exceptional jurist but was also a woman of great integrity, wisdom and compassion. Her contributions to the legal profession and unwavering commitment to justice have left an indelible mark on the Judiciary, both within The Gambia and beyond. Her life was exemplified by her unquestioned dedication to duty, and fairness in the dispensation of justice.
Throughout her esteemed career, Justice Sey demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to upholding the principles of justice and equity. Her work in the Supreme Court was characterized by a profound understanding of the law, coupled with a deep sense of service to humanity. She served as a role model to many lawyers both on the Bench and the Bar, inspired confidence in the judicial system and earned the respect of her peers and the public alike as a courageous dispenser of justice.
As we mourn her untimely passing, our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues. We hope that they find solace in the legacy she leaves behind and in the knowledge that her contributions have made a lasting impact on our nation.
